Women’s Health Services

Women’s health services cover a wide range of care from menarche (the onset of menstruation) through menopause, addressing various issues that can arise throughout these stages. Here’s an overview of the key services provided:

Menarche and menstrual issues education and support

  • Guidance on menstrual health, hygiene, and managing symptoms like cramping and irregular periods. Alexandra Frankham is a certified Celebration day for Girls provider.

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

  • Women can experience urinary incontinence at any age, especially if they have participated in high-impact sports. While urinary incontinence is common, it is not normal. With evidence-based, scientifically proven treatments available, people suffering from urinary incontinence, bowel incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse should not suffer in silence. Our pelvic health physiotherapists at Physio.je are highly trained and are members of the Pelvic Obstetric & Gynaecological Physiotherapy association (POGP)

Menopause Support

  • The MenoMOT, or Menopause MOT (Maintenance, Optimisation, and Treatment), is a comprehensive musculoskeletal and pelvic health check designed specifically for women going through menopause changes. It aims to assess and address various health concerns that can arise during this stage of life.

Male Pelvic Health

Men can also have pelvic floor disorders. Not only does prostate surgery often cause incontinence but urinary frequency and urgency and incontinence treatment in all cases is valid. Bowel difficulties such as prolapse or constipation can be problematic and also be improved greatly with treatment. Treatment will help to prevent further damage as well as give exercises to improve the disorder.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) can occur at any age and 10% have no apparent physical cause. After your doctor or urologist has conducted a thorough examination, they might refer you to physiotherapy because lifestyle changes, including pelvic floor muscle exercises, can help manage idiopathic ED.

Conditions treated:

  • Bladder conditions (incontinence)
  • Bowel dysfunction (faecal incontinence, wind incontinence, constipation)
  • Pre-post prostate surgery rehabilitation
  • Pelvic pain
  • Idiopathic erectile dysfunction (GP or Urologist referral required)
