Skiing is one of the most exciting winter activities, but it’s important to take precautions to prevent injuries. Here are some tips to help you enjoy a safe and fun time on the mountain:

  • Warm Up Properly – a simple dynamic warm-up (moving) can reduce injury significantly
  • Take Ski Lessons – if you are new or haven’t been in a while. Get some instruction to avoid mistakes.
  • Wear the Proper Gear – A helmet, well-fitting boots, and adjusted ski bindings are a must.
  • Know Your Limits – Don’t push yourself too hard, ski within your skill level. Especially on that first day!
  • Stay Hydrated & Energised – Drink water and have snacks to keep your energy up.
  • Avoid Skiing When Tired – Fatigue increases the risk of injury; take breaks!
  • Be Aware of Your Surroundings – Stay alert and follow resort rules.
  • Go easy on the alcohol – it’s a no-brainer that alcohol can increase your risk of injury when skiing!
  • Strengthen Core & Legs – Tons of evidence point towards strength and balance helping before your trip.
  • Practice Falling Safely – This sounds mad, but there is a way to fall to prevent further problems.

By following these guidelines, you can minimise the risk of injuries and enjoy skiing safely this winter season
